Torrevieja is proud of it´s more than 14 km seaside, where you can find spacious sand beaches o small and private rocky creeks, enjoying happy holidays with almost 300 sunny days per year. The north of Torrevieja begins with La Mata Beach, a marvellous white sand beach with more than 2 km long, famous for it´s dunes. Furthermore we pass to a Cabo Cervera Beach, called by everybody an emblem of Torrevieja, thanks to the Old Tower called “Torre del Moro”, constructed in a medieval époque to protect the town frontiers.
Going to the south from La Mata areas we are getting closer to Torrevieja centre, where can find a lot of small creeks and bays to swim and diving practice. Torrevieja centre has 4 fantastic beaches: Playa Los Locos, Playa del Cura, Playa de los Naufragos and Playa del Acequion. In a last one we can the see the salt distribution technology, the process of taking a salt from a famous “salinas of Torrevieja” and charging it to merchant ships for a further export.
At the most southern part of Torrevieja we can discover a small and private paradise beach called Cala Ferris. This unique place offers a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere, between a bird singing and wave sounds.
There is no doubt, that Torrevieja is famous for its salt lakes, situated inside a protected natural park called “Las Salinas de Torrevieja – La Mata”. The picturesque colour of them: one of the rose and another one deep green, and a typical Mediterranean landscape attracts a lot of tourist from all the region. These lagoons occupy almost 50% of all Torrevieja city surface, bringing to the area a special and healthy microclimate. Thanks to a high salt concentration there is no definite climate change between winter and summer temperature, and no pressure difference, making Torrevieja region one of the healthiest Costa Blanca resorts, recommended by the doctors.
